Letter From the EICs: Spring 2026

Hi everyone, With a fresh start after a long April break, we welcome you back to school with the publication of our Spring Issue! We know this is a season full of stress for some with AP exams and the craziness of classes all fully entering the fourth quarter, we hope this issue will allow for you all to relax a bit and unwind. So, be sure to grab a snack and a drink (friendly reminder to stay hydrated!), and enjoy our Spring Issue of The Spectrum . Our Mainspread topic this issue is Cuisine. We hope that as you get deeper into the upcoming AP season, you can take a breather and de-stress with The Spectrum to read about some of our favorite food combinations, restaurants, and cuisines. From takis and cream cheese to Chili’s mozzarella sticks, there are endless mouth watering suggestions for you to peruse. This is not just your average section obsessing over the deliciousness of food, but it also touches deeper topics. Things like how food affects culture, how culture affects food, and how people get their food and prepare it, are all present in this issue! We dive deeper into a topic that is often overlooked and just seen as nourishment, and see how it affects our day-to-day lives on a level deeper than what we take for granted. Along with this, as we approach Graduation, The Spectrum is introducing its new Chief Staff members for the 26-27 school year. Let’s get to know their favorite foods, Spectrum articles, class, and songs, along with their new roles! Additionally, we made a change to the headlines of the newspaper, changing Op-Ed to Opinion. This is to ensure our readers have a clearer understanding that it is the writer’s opinion. Op-Ed stands for Opposite the Editorial, but since our newspaper does not have a formal Editorial section , we have decided to make the switch over to Opinion! With this change, the material that we cover will mostly stay the same, with students giving their opinions on important topics and just expressing themselves. In this issue, we have topics ranging from the media coverage of the Uyghur oppression, the absolute legend that J. Cole is and why he is so impactful, and thoughts on the current Boston sports scene. We hope you really enjoy reading it and learn about the opinions of our writers!

Best, Matthew & Vani
